Help with choosing what to write in my personal essay? Topic: Essay about a personal experience

Question: Help with choosing what to write in my personal essay? So the assignment is as follows: Write a personal essay about an experience that doesn't allow you to look at something the same way again. What can I write about? I was thinking about writeing about this trip my school took to a place called Frost Valley in the winter which was absolutely beautiful. I can't seem to look at the city the same way again... all the paved roads seem so unnatural and it bothers me to look at them sometimes. How does that sound?? Nothing dramatic has really happened in my life... I mean I go to school in Manhattan so I was affected by 9/11 but I was only 8 years old and no one in my family was personally affected. There was also this blackout in 2003 which reached many other states as well. My mother and I walked miles to get home, but she wound up in the hospital. It was a pretty incredibly experience... but how did it change the way I see something? Any help or ideas are great. Which choice would be best for the reader to read about? How can each of these experiences link in to what the assignment is asking?

Maybe write about a vacation, but add a lil extra drama. I had to do that for college applications and I wrote about when I went to Ecuador and stayed with a tribe who basically had NOTHING to survive off of (that was all true) but I added dramatic affect by saying it inspired me to get into medicine (which it did, but really im only doing medicine over art because of my patents) lol anyway try to talk about an experience or time that is unique to only you, and that most people havent experienced. Try to get really personal.

it depends on ur angle of the essay. obviously, none of us r u, so we can't tell u what experience affected u the most. i think if ur going more sentimental, pick the frost valley 1. if ur going more earth-shattering, then pick the black-out. i'm not sure how that changed u, but 4 me, i would've been more appreciative of the things that i have and how hard my mom works. u could write about how people in some places have 2 walk miles every day just 2 get water.
