I'll only explain it at number one then I'll solve the other problems for you. Just substitute an equation in the other. 1.) y = 5x + 3 y = 4x + 4 You could write this as: 4x + 4 = 5x + 3 4-3 = 5x - 4x x = 1 Substitute this in either equation. y = 5(1) + 3 y = 8 2.) y=-4+18 y= -3x+13 If it has really no x, then this is how the solution will go: y = -4 + 18 y = 14 14 = -3x + 13 1 = -3x x = -1/3 3. y=5x+20 y=-2x-8 -2x - 8 = 5x + 20 -8 - 20 = 5x + 2 -28 = 7x x = -4 y = -2(-4) - 8 y = 0 4. y=-5x-21 y=-2x-6 -2x - 6 = -5x - 21 -2x + 5x = -21 + 6 3x = -15 x = -5 y = -2(-5) - 6 y = 10 - 6 y = 4 5. y=3x-8 y=-4x+6 -4x + 6 = 3x - 8 6 +8 = 3x + 4x 14 = 7x x = 2 y = -4(2) + 6 y = -8 + 6 y = -2 6. y=-4x+18 y=3x-3 3x-3 = -4x + 18 7x = 21 x = 3 y = 3(3) - 3 y = 6 7. -3x-7y=4 y=-3x+20 Just isolate y or x (whichever you prefer) first before substituting. -3x - 7y = 4 -7y = 4 + 3x y = -(4/7) - (3/7)x y= -3x + 20 -3/7x - 4/7 = -3x + 20 Multiply the whole equation by 7 to avoid working with fractions -3x - 4 = -21x + 140 -3x + 21x = 140 + 4 18x = 144 x = 8 y = -3(8) + 20 y = -24 + 20 y = -4 8. -9+3y=-7 y=3x-7 Again, isolate y (or x). I don't know if there is a typo or not... 3y = -7 + 9 3y = 2 y = 2/3 2/3 = 3x - 7 (2 + 21)/3 = 3x 2 + 21 = 9x 22 = 9x x = 22/9 9. y= 4x+6 -8x-4y=24 I was stupid in the earlier questions. If you already have at least one equation that has an isolated variable (x or y), then you can substitute it to the other equation. Anyway, the answer is the same. -8x - 4(4x+6) = 24 -8x - 16x -24 = 24 -24x = 48 x = -2 y = 4(-2) + 6 y = -8 + 6 y = -2 10. -2x+6y=10 -4x+y=9 Just isolate the variable from an equation that is easily manipulable. y = 9 + 4x -2x + 6(9+4x) = 10 -2x + 54 + 24x = 10 22x = -44 x = -2 y = 9 + 4(-2) y = 1 11. -7x+6y=-12 x-7y=14 You could also try isolating x here: x = 14 + 7y -7(14 + 7y) + 6y = -12 -49y + 6y - 98 = -12 -43y = -12 + 98 -43y = 86 y = -2 x = 14 + 7(-2) x = 0 12. 8x+2y=-10 -2x+y= 7 y = 7 + 2x 8x + 2(7+2x) = -10 8x + 14 + 4x = -10 12x = -24 x = -2 y = 7 + 2(-2) y = 3

u just substitute by either making y=something or x=something then plug that into the equation 1. y=5x+3 y=4x+4 4x=y-4 x=(y-4)/4 now plug x=(y-4)/4 into y=5x+3 u get y=5(y-4)/4 + 3 y=(5y-20)/4+3 y=(5/4)y - 5 + 3 y=(5/4)y -2 -1/4y=-2 y=8 simple

You didn't specify the math break down, the ranges for the letter grades and what your number grade is. If you could do that, maybe we could help you. But best thing to do is to start studying. That's the only thing that can help you, anyway. It's the only option.

I can't tell you specifics if you don't give us a breakdown of your scores. Get a tutor or go in for extra help or something.

1. -13x < -156 x >12:divide -13 on both sides.since you are dividing by a negative number you have to reverse the sign I tested this multiple times and I am positive this is the right answer. ANSWER: x > 12 2. -168 > -12a 14>a or a<14 ANSWER: a < 14
