If, according to psychology, black and white stimulate young childrens' minds', why do adults buy colored toys
Topic: Developing a research question in psychology
June 17, 2019 / By Cush Question:
Is it just because the adults/parents buy their children things because they themselves like to look at them and don't want to look at black and white objects? Is it beacuse they don't know? I'm really sending this question out to all the parents out there, and I really am looking for an answer.

According to the research, babies look longer at toys with high contrast. I don't think it matters if it's dark blue and yellow or black and white. So toys in bright primary colors are fine, too.
But looking longer isn't necessarily a measure of most appropriate. Babies learn to see by seeing. So giving them toys with lower contrast probably helps develop their vision.
Some researchers have hypothesized that babies only see in black and white at birth. There is no proof of this, but the idea has caught on in some circles. It's easy to say anything you want about babies--they never argue with you!!

Originally Answered: Why did the 1918 pandemic kill mainly young adults?
You could have found this information with a simple Google search, as I did.
There are several possible explanations for the high mortality rate of the 1918 influenza (Spanish flu) pandemic.
Some research suggests that the specific variant of the virus had an unusually aggressive nature.
One group of researchers recovered the virus from the bodies of frozen victims, and found that transfection in animals caused a rapid progressive respiratory failure and death through a cytokine storm (overreaction of the body's immune system).
It was then postulated that the strong immune reactions of young adults ravaged the body, whereas the weaker immune systems of children and middle-aged adults resulted in fewer deaths among those groups.
More recent investigations, mainly based on original medical reports from the period of the pandemic, found that the viral infection itself was not more aggressive than any previous influenza, but that the special circumstances (malnourishment, overcrowded medical camps and hospitals, poor hygiene) promoted bacterial superinfection that killed most of the victims typically after a somewhat prolonged death bed.
I don't know the answer to this for sure but it seems to me that black and white would probably be the most stimulating because they have the strongest contrast. I am sure that brightly coloured toys are also interesting to children and as the babies get a little older it is easy for parents to teach their children the different colours when the toys HAVE distinctive colours "Red ball" "blue teddy"

because all colors stimulate the mind. parents automatically assume that a bright colored object or a shiny object would be more stimulating, since it is something that catches you eye better. plus- it's all in what the toy makers make. black toys arent exactly something positive- would you want a pure black teddy bear for your kid- it would look depressing. or a white one- which would get really dirty, really fast. but a purple or brown one- it seems to have more excitement in the color- and therefore people assume that it is more stimulating.

I know when a baby is newborn, before their vision improves, black and white is all they can see...they're very contrasting, and that's why black and white toys are suggested. When the baby gets a little older (a few months) and they start seeing a little more clearly, THEN you should buy colorful toys to stimulate their vision.

Well, LiseK, within the historical South Africa, any one who dared companion him/herself with a black or brown character (referred to as non-White) was once robotically labeled as a non-White, and was once banished to spend their lives within the non-White residential places. Now, with those non-White and White residential places not being relevant, you've obtained a well query. Perhaps those combined persons will now be referred to as non-Blacks?? Did you learn approximately that one couple within the UK who gave start to twins, one black and one white? Both one hundred% from the equal father! What will they be categorized as? Draad-sitter? We are all simply simple persons, what the heck is the change what color we're? What style of persons we emerge as is certainly extra principal? I endorse everone getting a tattoo on their nostril or different distinguished, completely noticeable side of our frame. When any individual commits against the law, then they're tattooed in this spot for all to look: T for thief, R for rapist, M for assassin or some thing identical. Good trade for the tattoo parlours!! *Add* Like zxcv says: permit´s desire that this may fall away quickly. How lengthy do they desire to hack round with this problem of BEE and AA?

Different colors stimilate children at different ages. Black and white are the colors that younger babies (I believe up to 6 months) are most comfortable with... after 6 months, however, children begin to become interested in different colors, reds, yellows, greens, etc.
